Who are the nisaa ul mu’mineen? Where it is mentioned in the Qur’an?
“O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers (nisaa ul mu’mineen) to draw their jalabib over their bodies. That will be better that they should be known so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving and Most Merciful.” (Qur’an, 33:59)
Here Allah tells His Messenger (peace be upon him) to command the believing women – especially his wives and daughters, because of their position of honor- to draw their jilbabs over their bodies, so that they will be distinct in their appearance from the women of jahiliyyah and from the slave women.
(Taken from Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
In this verse our wonderful Creator Allah clearly tells our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to tell:
- His wives
- His daughters
- Believing women (nisaa ul mu’mineen)
We are the believing women so in this verse it is well understand that we should cover ourselves like our Prophets wives and daughters. That is the honor that Allah has given the Muslim women subhanAllah!
Allah knows best.
